Michael King taunts the Astros

Do you think it’s possible that a pitcher with only 143 innings of experience in the Majors could stir up a rivalry between two great rivals?

That’s exactly what Michael King just did when he mentioned that the Houston Astros can’t hold back healthy, determined Yankees.

The Yankees pitcher says loud and clear that his team is superior to the Astros when the stars are aligned.

A full-time member of the Yankees bullpen before suffering an injury, King adds that it was precisely the many injuries that made the difference in his team’s performance against the last World Series champions.

Remember that since 2015, the Bronx Bombers have been eliminated four times against the Astros. The latter have Aaron Boone’s team number and the signal theft scandal has deteriorated the relationship between the two teams.

Although they don’t play in the same division, the Astros and Yankees regularly end up meeting up when it counts.

King’s statements set the stage for an emotionally charged 2023 season. Of course, the fact that these words come from a rather obscure player may have the effect of mitigating retaliation. It would be very surprising if Aaron Judge went in the same direction, question of not providing ammunition to an already well-off group of players in order to cope with the music.

Not sure that King’s teammates are very infatuated with the latter’s exit. After all, why give the Astros any more reason to play their best baseball against them?

Fans always compare the two formations when a movement of personnel is made in one camp as in the other, wondering if this will be enough to make the difference.

If Michael King wanted to come out of anonymity, he partly succeeded in his bet. It remains to be seen whether his team will be able to improve their performance against the Astros. In 2022, Houston has won five out of seven regular season head-to-head matches.
