Mariners add AJ Pollock to roster

Building on their success of the past season, the Seattle Mariners do not intend to stop there and have just added veteran AJ Pollock to an already well-stocked roster.

Recall that they traded with the Blue Jays and the Brewers in order to acquire Teoscar Hernandez and Kolten Wong and now they offer themselves the services of Pollock, who spent the last campaign with the Chicago White Sox.

Pollock, 35, can be used in a prime hitter role, having batted an impressive .286 in 126 games against left-handed pitchers last season. He also hit 11 long balls against them in 2022.

The veteran will be able to render valuable services to his manager Scott Servais by patrolling the outfield on occasion, in order to give rest days to the regular outfielders.

In 2022, the Mariners entered the postseason for the first time since 2001 and lost to division rival Houston Astros. They previously eliminated the Toronto Blue Jays.

This season, with the arrival of newcomers and banking experience for youngsters such as Julio Rodriguez and Jared Kelenic, this team can no longer be seen as a surprise, as they will fight relentlessly for the top spot in the their division with the Houston Astros.

A well-balanced offense and a rotation of high-quality starters will make this formation one of the ten best in major league baseball and you can count on them for many years to come.

In the Majors since 2011, AJ Pollock has spent the majority of his career in the uniform of the Arizona Diamondbacks. In fact, he represented this team in the All-Star Game in 2015. That year, Pollock also won a Golden Glove for his defensive prowess.

He has since spent three seasons with the Dodgers, before moving to Chicago in 2022.

In Los Angeles, he did very well by registering good offensive statistics. In 258 games at California, he batted .282, in addition to hitting 52 long balls while driving in 150 runs. He also stole 16 bases during that span.

Before being officially declared a member of the Mariners ahead of the 2023 season, Pollock will need to successfully pass medical tests to ensure he is able to perform his duties.
