Scott Boras likes to get new customers from the stars of major baseball.
He likes to go get him while guys are two years from complete autonomy. This is especially what he had done with Pete Alonso, there are a few seasons already.

Jeremy Pena will be eligible for wage arbitration in a few months and in 18 months. And after the 2027 season, he could become an autonomous player and offer his services to all the teams on the Manfred circuit.
Pena is one of the best players in defensively speaking and this year, he dominates offensively on the sidelines of his average of .326 and his ops+ of 144.
He is one of the most complete players in the major, in fact.
He is 27 years old, which makes him independent for his 30 -year season. He will not have a 12 -year contract, obviously, but he can place himself in a position to have a good annual salary.
But because its new agent likes to establish the value of its customers on the autonomy market, we can expect to see Peda refuse to sign in the long term by 30 months in Houston.
Will the player be exchanged, at a point, if he refuses to sign before autonomy? Who knows. But that's already seen, there.
Note that Jose Altuve, who is also a client of Scott Boras, had publicly said that his club signs Pena in the long term – as he did. Altuve said that before changing his teammate agent.
