Jackie Bradley Jr. agrees with the Royals

For a few seasons, Jackie Bradley Jr. is no longer the player he once was. His defensive game is up to par in center field, but at bat, it’s less obvious.

And since that has never been his strength, it complicates things.

A year ago, the Brewers traded him, the Red Sox released him (despite what he means to the city and despite the club’s difficult season) and the Blue Jays chose to let him go. Instead, we chose, on the Toronto side, to trust Kevin Kiermaier for an everyday role in the center.

And for months teams haven’t signed him to the free range market.

But yesterday, the situation changed. Jackie Bradley Jr. has agreed to terms with the Kansas City Royals.

However, we are talking about a contract for minors. Its place in the sun is therefore not guaranteed.

He will therefore have the chance to assert himself at the training camp of his new club, in Arizona. And with Michael A. Taylor being traded and Drew Waters injured, the door could open.

The Royals don’t exactly have the most impressive outfield of the lot, but several youngsters will fight to try and crack the roster.

Bradley Jr. will bring a veteran presence to the club and he will allow his new organization the luxury of taking the time, if necessary, with young people.

Whether that will work for him remains to be seen.

  • He is in a good position right now.
  • Change of course for the circuit jacket.
