Giants: Farhan Zaidi takes blame for Carlos Correa failure

The sweater was ready. The family was ready. The club was ready. The city was ready. The main interested party was also ready.

But at the last second, Carlos Correa was no longer a member of the San Francisco Giants.

We now know the story. Concerned by Correa’s medical results, the Giants asked Scott Boras for more time, who thought it made no sense.

Judging that the Giants were too demanding (they were worried about an injury that had been suffered in the minors and which no longer affected Correa for years) and that his client was healthy, Boras reopened negotiations elsewhere and he got along with the Mets.

The Giants may have turned to other options (Taylor Rogers and Michael Conforto, who is a client of Scott Boras), but the fact remains that it is a disaster for the club at the moment and that the fans are angry.

And about that, the boss of Giants baseball operations, Farhan Zaidi, took the blame on his shoulders. Within the organization, he claims that it is because of him that the deal ultimately did not take place.

Zaidi said he believed in his club.

Obviously, this whole situation created a strange situation throughout MLB and mistrust set in. The Twins, for example, were contacted after the Giants episode. However, they didn’t want to move forward without seeing their former player’s medical records.

But the Mets, themselves, took the chance to believe that the problem the Giants saw was indeed ancient history. Correa still passed physical tests in New York, but the Mets should be more lenient towards him.

This will likely allow them to line up a left side of the infield that will be simply exceptional.
