Expos uniform among top 20 in history, according to ESPN

Since 2004, baseball fans in Montreal haven’t had much to eat. And if they believed in a potential return of the team, even if it was only part-time, they experienced another big disappointment recently.

Now, some time after the joint custody project’s official demise, ESPN is offering a small dose of solace to those fans: A Montreal Expos uniform is among the top 20 in MLB history.

According to ESPN’s Joon Lee, this sweater ranks 18th. It’s not as if we had a ball team in Quebec, but it’s already a little something positive.

“The Expos sported one of the best uniforms in the sport during their golden years, and their powder blue edition with stripes stands out from its peers to a point where the Washington Nationals bring them back from time to time. “

This vest in question, the powder blue, was worn in the metropolis by big names like Gary Carter, Andre Dawson and Steve Rogers, between 1980 and 1991.

During that span, the Expos reached the playoffs only once, in the restricted 108-game schedule in 1981. They went 60-48 in the regular season before losing to the Los Angeles Dodgers in National Championship Series.

Today, several formations have an alternate uniform that includes powder blue. Just think of the Blue Jays, the Royals, the Phillies or even the Cardinals. And according to ESPN, the two-tone stripes are an interesting element that differentiated the Montreal jerseys from others.

Elsewhere in the list, we find everything: City Connect jerseys, editions from several different decades and, of course, must-haves. This last category, which notably includes the jerseys of the Yankees, Red Sox, Cardinals and Dodgers, is the one that predominates in the classification.
