Édouard Julien replaced Byron Buxton in yesterday’s game

Edouard Julien will not have taken long to get playing time following his recall, but for the Minnesota Twins, the presence of the Quebecer in the lineup against the Los Angeles Angels has not been in the best circumstances.

Indeed, Julien came to replace the too fragile Byron Buxton in the sixth inning after the latter, who occupied the position of hitter of choice, complained of pain in his right knee.

Manager Rocco Baldelli says Buxton’s injury isn’t too serious, but he’s still going to give him an extra day off so he doesn’t take a chance on him.

Unfortunately for Julien, he didn’t get a hit in two at bats, but he was able to see action early in a 6-2 win over the Angels. He was retired once on strikes.

Recall that the recall of Édouard Julien coincides with a high number of injuries to key players at the Twins, including Jorge Polanco. He was placed on the injured list for ten days.

Julien’s teammate, Kyle Farmer, was the Twins’ winner yesterday, hitting three for five while scoring two runs. Farmer, who plays at third base, is a very nice surprise this season, he who hits for an average of .318.

Farmer was obtained in the offseason to take the place of Carlos Correa, who was busy finding a new destination and eventually returned to Minnesota. At that time, Rocco Baldelli wondered what Farmer’s role would be, but the injury at Polanco and the sending off to the minors of young Jose Miranda changed everything.

Since returning from a serious facial injury resulting from a lack of control from Lucas Giolito (White Sox), Farmer has caused a sensation.

Joey Gallo drove in a run on his 11th home run of the season.

Let’s hope that Julien can have the chance to assert himself again and if that’s the case today, it will be against Shohei Ohtani.

The Twins will return home after this game to host the San Francisco Giants.

  • In the loss, Shohei Ohtani hit the long ball.
  • Clint Frazier is visibly back in the Majors.
  • Chris Sale becomes himself again.
