Dodgers consider offering Manny Machado a contract (if he’s free) in a year

In 2018, Manny Machado asked the Orioles if he could play shortstop. The club agreed to play their star, who was to become a free agent, at the #6 position.

We suspected that he was going to leave Baltimore and when Corey Seager was injured at the Dodgers at the start of the season, we knew that Machado was in danger of ending the season there. It finally happened.

However, we cannot say that things went well with the club that lost in the World Series. He was not appreciated by the fans and his attitude was not unanimous in the locker room.

He still lacked a bit of maturity and his lack of effort was decried. His attitude hasn’t passed and the fact that he’s been returned as the heart of a club that’s a big division rival doesn’t exactly make him a crowd favorite in LA.

However, you and I know that it’s easy to hate a rival, but Manny Machado is now a player who is loved by his club’s supporters. This is all the more true since he has matured.

And now, if he really becomes free as air in a year (he said loud and clear that he intended to use the exit option in his contract), the Dodgers would consider signing him.

Remember that the guy wants $ 400 million and the Dodgers want to sign Shohei Ohtani. The Dodgers may be rich and may have saved up this winter, but…

In the organization, some would like the idea and others would not. But one thing is certain: on the field, he would have his place.

Obviously, for that, the Padres will have to let him go. And that is not done.

In fact, even though Machado told the Padres that he didn’t want to negotiate during camp, there would still be negotiations to keep him in San Diego for the long term.

The Padres owner likes to spend and recently said keeping Machado in town was his priority. I don’t think he’ll want to take the chance of losing it.

After all, the big clubs will be on his case…

If I had to bet, I would say that in 2024, Machado will still play under the colors of the Padres, who will have given him the money he wants.

It remains to be seen whether it will be now or in a year.

  • Yusei Kikuchi is happy with his start of the day.
  • Joey Gallo is fine being away from New York.
  • I can’t wait to see him this season.
  • Kike Hernandez looks good at shortstop.
