Sad news in the world of sport.
Alex Vesia, the Dodgers pitcher who was unable to pitch in the World Series against the Blue Jays due to a personal situation, gave more details about his family situation.
In a post on social networks, the pitcher announced that his daughter had died on October 26, right in the heart of the World Series. If we rely on the photo that accompanies the publication, it really wasn't old.
He and his wife are therefore in terrible mourning. And it's not the fact of having seen his Dodgers win the World Series that will make the pain less severe.
In a long publication, he took the time to pay tribute to his daughter, but also to thank the Dodgers and the baseball world for all the messages of support.
He notably named the Blue Jays and we can believe that this is because the Dodgers' World Series opponents paid tribute to Vesia. Toronto relievers had LA pitcher #51 on their caps, at one point.
The medical team who took care of the family was also thanked.
It's hard to think of a worse tragedy for a family. The next few months (i.e. the off season for Vesia) will be difficult and our thoughts are with them for the future.
