Dante Bichette quit so he could work with his son Bo

For the past two years, in different roles, Dante Bichette has been around the Toronto Blue Jays. He was sometimes on the road, sometimes not.

But in fact, he had a specific role: to help the guys with their stick.

However, Bo Bichette’s father is no longer, as we speak, employed by the Toronto club. That’s what the son confirmed to the Blair & Barker podcast.

Why? To be able to work with his son.

After all, legally, father and son weren’t allowed to talk to each other because of the work stoppage. Players and team members can’t chat…

For a family, that doesn’t make sense – especially for one that’s as tight as the Bichettes. The father therefore resigned in order to be able to help his son during the off-season.

As a family man, it was the right thing to do. It would have been unbearable to see him (Dante) working for the club during the lockout.

If he really wants to work in baseball again after the lockout, I’m sure the father will be able to find a job, whether it’s with the Blue Jays or elsewhere.

It’s not an insurmountable loss for the Jays since Dante Bichette was an advisor and not a full-time coach, but he brought interesting expertise. It’s still a shame for the club.

He will now be able to help his son in other ways. Bo Bichette, who is aware of his shortcomingshas a lot to learn from his father and having him in his corner is important.
