Danny Jansen is trying his best to stay fit

Like last year, the receiver situation in Toronto will be the talk of the town in 2022. Indeed, the group includes Danny Jansen and Alejandro Kirk, who will fight for the number one position at the opener of the regular season.

My colleague, Marc-Olivier Cook, described the situation to you a few days ago.

We talked about Kirk, but now let’s talk about Jansen.

It’s no secret people want to see Alejandro and not Danny. The little Mexican is an incredible hitter and his defensive game is improving. The other’s main strength, however, is his defensive play and his work with Hyun-Jin Ryu.

When Jansen was injured last year, we saw Ryu a little less dominant than usual.

It is for this reason that again this season, he will not have a real number one receiver, in my opinion. When Ryu is on the mound, Jansen will be there. When the team needs offense, Kirk will be sent into the fray.

In an interview with the Sportsnet network, Jansen admitted that it was difficult to stop working, he who is on his first lockout. What he likes less, besides not playing baseball, is the uncertainty.

He often asks himself questions like “when will he be able to start playing again? “

Not being able to talk to his coaches and management may also be an aspect of the break he doesn’t like very much.

One thing is certain, the receiver tries as best as he can to stay in shape. He trains with machines every day, but he doesn’t want to get burned. This is one of his big concerns.

Like all players, it’s difficult, but Jansen remains optimistic and he can’t wait for it to finally start, this 2022 season.
