Cody Bellinger: the Yankees offer him more than $30 million per year

Right now, the New York Yankees are probably the most serious about Cody Bellinger, with at least two offers already on the table for the star outfielder.

However, the two parties do not seem close to an agreement, despite the apparent increase in the Yankees' latest offer. Indeed, according to Brendan Kuty of The Athletic, the Bombardiers' most recent proposal had an annual value of more than $30 million over several years.

The problem, however, is that Bellinger and his camp are looking to make a seven-year pact. This issue is therefore likely to drag on, with both sides feeling no urgency to reach an agreement.

Kyle Tucker and Bo Bichette both remain on the market as potential options should Bellinger officially leave the New York organization after just one season, which won't move things forward any faster.

Besides, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that interest from Bronx officials in Bichette has intensified as the team's negotiations with Bellinger stall.

The Yankees have a vacancy at shortstop after Anthony Volpe underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder last October. Additionally, second baseman Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s name has been mentioned as a potential candidate to end up elsewhere, which would open up a long-term spot for Bichette.

Returning to Bellinger, who declined a $25 million player option at the start of the off-season, he is also attracting interest from several major league baseball clubs, including the New York Mets.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, where Bellinger began his career and with whom he won the National League MVP award in 2019, as well as the San Francisco Giants and the Chicago Cubs, who traded him last winter, have also expressed interest.
