Charlie Morton did not have a great 2025 season. The launcher, who will be 42 years old in November, was not very successful in Baltimore, to the point where the Orioles let him go.
The tigers then brought him to town and gave him nine starts … which were not much better.
Morton was therefore released by the Tigers, and there were good reasons to believe that his career was over …
But now we learn that a team got along with Morton: the Braves of Atlanta.
It will be a third visit to Atlanta for Morton.
Morton began his career with the Braves in 2008, and we saw him with the club between 2021 and 2024. He was a loved launcher in Atlanta, and we can think that the club wants to give him the chance to retire with the team that drafted him in 2002.
For the moment, nothing is confirmed as to the fact that he will launch with the brave people by the end of the season (therefore, this week), but the club will chat tomorrow. One might think that if Morton wishes, he will have the opportunity to launch a last match in the major.
Note that at the end of the week, the Braves will welcome the pirates, the team with which Morton has played the most seasons in his career. There will therefore be a great opportunity for Morton to launch one last time with the team that drafted him … and to face a team with which he has played seven campaigns.
In a season that is lost in Atlanta, as well give this moment to the supporters.
We will therefore see if Morton will be entitled to a last match in the middle fingers this week, but it is a good news to see that the Braves seem open to give him this opportunity.
And even if he does not take her, see him ending his career and announcing his retirement where it all started, it will please the great romantics of sport.
