All AAA-level stadiums will have robot referees in 2023

In recent years, MLB has come a long way compared to the conservatism long advocated in the past, in several respects. And this is expected to continue in future seasons.

Indeed, according to Buster Olney of the ESPN network, all AAA level stadiums will have robot referees by 2023. An electronic grip zone will be set up in addition to a system of balls and automatically called grips.

Half of the matches at the triple-A level will be determined by an electronic strike zone, while in the other half of the matches a system similar to that used in professional tennis will be implemented.

There will certainly be time to adapt, but this is excellent news, considering the astronomical number of bad decisions changing the course of a match that we have seen in recent seasons.

This arrival will bring a little more justice to the calls of certain officials (read here first Angel Hernandez) and will eliminate the possibility of seeing certain egos changing the outcome of a meeting.

If Major League Baseball institutes this rule in the minors, we can expect it to be adopted into the show sooner rather than later. Everything will depend on how it goes this season.

  • What’s left to do this winter?
  • Freddie Freeman wanted to play with Jason Heyward.
  • Will someone sign it?
