Aaron Hicks will get another chance in Giancarlo Stanton’s absence

Like every season, Giancarlo Stanton is currently on the injured list. His absence is scheduled for a period of four to six weeks, but do not be surprised if it makes it to eight weeks.

If the giant’s injury brings bad luck to the New York Yankees and their fans, it just might make someone happy.

Who? Aaron Hicks. Yes yes, the very one who cries on fate, not understanding the role he must play in the team. It’s not complicated, he should have NO role in it.

But now it looks like he’ll have another chance to show off. The Yankees do not like to admit their mistakes, including that of granting a huge contract to Hicks, the latter will be part of the mix that will make up for the loss of Stanton, according to manager Aaron Boone.

We will mix the combinations. Obviously it’s a blow when Giancarlo is not in the line-up. But that being said, Hicksy is an ambidextrous hitter. I think we can mix it all up and get there. And we will have to. It will take more guys who will step up and play different roles.

Being nonchalant in the outfield and contributing absolutely nothing offensively, Bronx Bombers fans must hope that his appearances will be sporadic despite Stanton’s absence.

Aaron Judge, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, Franchy Cordero and Oswaldo Cabrera can amply do the job as outfielders, not to mention the imminent return of Harrison Bader. And it’s better to give freshly recalled young Oswald Peraza appearances at bat than to leave him on the bench in favor of Hicks.

Boone in no way suggested this was Hicks’ last chance, but if it isn’t, I don’t know when it will be. There are limits to the odds a guy can get, no matter what salary he commands.
