2022 could be the last year of work for Jacques Doucet

Since 1969, Jacques Doucet has been involved in the world of baseball. First via the Expos, Jacques Doucet has become a monument and a must for baseball in Quebec.

But next March, he will be 82 years old. When will it stop? Will he retire?

The truth is that he is thinking about it. In fact, the one who describes the Blue Jays to TVA Sports since 2011 informed his bosses that 2022 could indeed be his last year.

That’s what he mentioned when he was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame earlier this month.

At TVA Sports, where he makes an excellent duo with Rodger Brulotte, the bosses would like to see him continue a bit, he who is still good and who has a good memory. That said, at his age, he goes there year after year.

After Dave Van Horne retired, to see Jacques Doucet retire would be a (sad) new chapter in Expos history.

It is important to note that at the time he gave his interview, Mr. Doucet had still not signed his contract with TVA Sports since the work stoppage is delaying proceedings and TVA Sports has not yet signed his contract with the Blue Jays.

He also mentions the possibility of seeing Red Sox games on the air in 2022 on a more regular basis.

If 2022 is to be his last year behind a microphone, he will have earned his sky, of course. It will not be less sad since he is the voice of baseball in French.

We’ll see at the end of the year, then.
